RICCARDO MUTI

Riccardo Muti and the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini at the Lucca Summer Festival

Monday, July 20 – Piazza Napoleone, with students from Italian Conservatories

Riccardo Muti brings his Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini, together with students from Italian Conservatories, to the heart of the Lucca Summer Festival for a special concert event that places young musicians at center stage and celebrates the value of music as a shared cultural heritage.
The program fully reflects this vision and engages in a natural dialogue with the host city. Riccardo Muti has chosen to take the great Italian symphonic and operatic repertoire beyond the traditional theater setting. The program includes works by two distinguished composers from Lucca—Giacomo Puccini and Alfredo Catalani—alongside pages by Giuseppe Verdi, who ideally opens and closes the concert with the overtures from Nabucco and La forza del destino.
At the heart of the program are the Intermezzi from Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini, Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, and Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo. These are paired with the Overture from William Tell by Gioachino Rossini, Contemplazione by Alfredo Catalani, and the suite from Il Gattopardo by Nino Rota.

Tickets will be available from Friday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. on ticketone.it.
